Slant’d was born from a series of intimate conversations between friends navigating their place in the world. Bonded by shared values and a craving for community, friends came together to create a literary magazine that explored questions about identity and challenged the public narrative about what it means to be AAPI. Through a mix of personal essays, illustration, digital art, and photography, Issue 04: Revolution honors both the work that is done quietly with the self and loudly on the streets. It celebrates sexuality, love, and death as beautiful acts of revolution. For this issue, I was paired with Kayako Ono to illustrate her screenplay "If It's Easier,” a story that explores her revolutionary act of reclaiming her Japanese name.
